High Level Side-Event: COP30

Monitoring and Addressing Climate Impacts Across the Conflict Cycle

High-Level Side Event

When: Friday, 14 November 2025

15:00 – 16:30 (local time)

Where: Side Event Room 1 - Blue Zone

Militaries are major yet under-reported contributors to global emissions, while soaring defence spending risks locking in carbon-intensive systems for decades. Conflicts also leave behind hazardous legacies that become even more dangerous as climate impacts intensify, complicating land restoration and community resilience.

This session brings together experts from research, policy, and humanitarian practice, including insights from Colombia and Ukraine, to explore climate impacts across the full conflict cycle, highlight new data and accountability gaps, and advance solutions to ensure military and conflict emissions are fully integrated into global climate policy and action.
